My Takeaways

My takeaways from this conversation was

  1. Mindful listening: Listening fully to the person without thinking of a response in my mind as they are talking.
  2. Demonstrating Empathy: Thinking what the other person is going through before I speak whether it’s a friend, sibling or my government
  3. Setting Boundaries: Choosing what or what not to listen or consume, who I choose to be with and how far to go or not to go.

Thank you for listening! Please share one takeaway that you got from this episode in the comments below or on twitter

Thanks Derek. I loved the nugget about ‘indistraction’. Focusing your attention to the person you engage with… That it is a practise, gets better when we practise. Thanks!

Hello. I just listened to the whole podcast and DAMN! I LOVE THE WHOLE CONVERSATION ❣️
On Mr. Bbanga talking about self management…..and on empathy I realized that I have been inconsiderate of other people’s situations and feelings but been quick to judge them….need to work on that. Then I realized that the activities he has talked about are actually what I used to do and I have been rediscovering them in my own so I must say the podcast had helped me smile more😁 THANK YOU!

Hello Andrew.I recently read a book on Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman and I can closely relate how Mr. Derek talks about differentiate self awareness and self management, the elaborative definition of empathy. I appreciate the reminder on practicing mindful listening by being present in the moment, practicing empathy. Thank you for the educative podcast.
